Independent Review of the Banana Plant Protection Program

Horticulture Innovation Australia requires all of its large projects to undergo a mid-term review. The company commissioned Scott (then Scott Williams Consulting), in partnership with Brazilian banana expert Dr Miguel Dita, to conduct such a review of the Banana Plant Protection Program. Scott's role was to review structural, governance and related aspects of the program.

The review involved an intensive week of visits to the program's research facilities and other locations in Queensland. Meetings were held with a range of stakeholders including banana growers, peak body personnel, program managers, researchers and Hort Innovation staff. A large number of documents were also reviewed.

Scott has undertaken similar reviews of projects in other industries and disciplines, including capacity building projects in the turf and mango industries and the Feedbase Investment Program of Meat & Livestock Australia.
