Vaccine Business Development in Lao PDR

This project was undertaken in 2006. Scott was part of a multi-disciplinary team led by AusVet Animal Health Services. The project was funded by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR).

Lao PDR had traditionally manufactured and distributed its own animal vaccines, mostly for smallholder use. An earlier project had shown problems in this supply chain, particularly in relation to cold chain management. This new project involved research, including analysis of the vaccine business model and supply chain, and discussions with stakeholders in Lao PDR to develop a new business model to meet the country's animal vaccine needs.

Further information on the project is available on the ACIAR website.
